Plans for a biomass plant at a factory near Wrexham are being recommended for backing despite worries it would be close to tourist attractions.
Kronospan says the plant would provide renewable energy for its wood panel factory at Chirk and help secure 600 jobs.
But some living near the site object and point out the plant is close to Chirk Castle and a World Heritage Site.
The proposal goes to Wrexham council’s planning committee on Monday.
The plant would generate renewable electricity and heat for the existing factory by processing biomass from wood rejects and waste at the site.
It has been claimed it would create 12 new jobs.
