The weekend starts on the evening of Friday 17th September with a talk and reception at the Guildhall before a ‘town walk’ will help to acquaint visitors (and local people!) with Cardigan’s rich history and architectural heritage. It is free to take part in this year’s festival, however spaces are limited therefore you do need to book.

Aberystwyth Food & Drink Festival 18th Sept
The Aberystwyth Food and Drink Festival features a range of food stalls, children’s entertainment and cookery demonstrations, and takes place along Baker Street on the 18th September 2010. The food festival is free and you are invited to try and buy the various local and national delicacies on display.
Scarecrow Making Days at Llanerchaeron, near Aberaeron, Ceredigion
Have you ever tried making a scarecrow? Llanerchaeron’s Walled Garden has it’s own but come along to the property and discover all the things you need to make a scarecrow by the Threshing Barn. Make your scary friend using clothes, sticks, straw and hats from the baskets. Leave him standing and wave him goodbye or take him appart and start again!

It’s a cliché to start with the phrase ‘owing to popular demand’ but in this case it is actually true. For years I’ve held out against catering for local would-be mushroomers for the very good reason that I don’t want competition. As time has progressed, I have realised my ‘special’ patches are actually not so special. There are mushrooms everywhere, so why be possessive?

Lack of funding puts Wales in Bloom’s future in doubt
Unless funding can be found this year’s Wales in Bloom competition will be the last, according to its organisers. The competition was set up to encourage towns, cities, villages and businesses brighten up their environment. Their website says the Wales in Bloom Foundation is “committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and to encourage improvement to the quality of life through community involvement”.
